What are the hearing options

There are three types of hearings you can request:

  1. Paying the fine. This is a terrible choice since you are admitting that you committed the infraction. This will cause your ticket to appear on your driving record. It will remain there for three years in most cases.

  2. Mitigating. This option has all of the bad consequences of option 1 but the Court may consider reducing the fine amount. Since Courts cannot typically drop the price lower than $80, the upfront savings is usually not that great.

  3. Contested Hearing. This is the option that most people should choose. It leaves open the first two options if you change your mind but it also gives us a chance to look at the evidence to see if we can get your ticket dismissed. It also allows us the option to negotiate with prosecutors to see if we can get your ticket amended to a non-moving offense.
